Darrall Gibson & Sons Plasterers

Darrall Gibson & Sons Plasterers is a family-owned and operated business that has been operating in the Newcastle and Hunter Region for over 50 years.

Our company was formed in 1962 as DS & MJ Gibson Plastering, which was a partnership between Darrall Gibson and his wife, Margaret. In the early 1960’s Darrall was a young plasterer who utilised his trade skills and industry knowledge to open a small internal linings company that specialised in residential work.

In 1976, Darrall’s sons Steve and Brad joined the company and we became Darrall Gibson & Sons Plasterers. The third generation of Gibsons is now working within the company, with Steve and Brad's sons being employed from 2001 onwards.

Apart from being a genuine family-owned and operated company, Darrall Gibson & Sons Plasterers is a proud member of the Newcastle community. Our aim is to provide employment to as many skilled, local tradespeople as possible to ensure that our economy is strong.

We also take our responsibilities in regard to providing apprenticeships seriously and have developed a culture that allows our apprentices to learn and advance their skills over the course of their training. We feel that it is our obligation, as a member of the local community to provide training and support to develop the skills of young people so that they become successful and talented tradespeople.

Over the years, we have worked on a number of large and high-profile developments in the region. Our experience on these large projects has allowed us to develop systems and procedures that ensure our work will be finished to the highest standard, on time and in accordance with all relevant requirements. We also have established relationships with our suppliers that ensure the best quality materials will be used on all projects.

We feel that we have the advantage of local knowledge and associations that will allow us to be more flexible and be able to react to local conditions in a way that other companies may not be able. We have developed our skills and expertise over a number of years and aim to provide quality work that is considered the best in the industry.

Internal Linings
Darrall Gibson & Sons Plasterers employs both Plasterers and Carpenters, which means that we are able to take a project from the construction stage (setting out and framing walls and ceilings) to the finishing stage (sheeting and setting or walls and ceilings).

The services that our company is able to offer in regards to internal linings include, but are not limited to, the following works.

• Set out and framed with timber and steel studs;
• Plasterboard walls and ceilings;
• Installation of insulation;
• Exposed grid ceilings;
• Installation of access panels and manholes;
• Installation of door frames and doors;

We are able to construct fire-rated walls and ceilings, as well as any other requirements such as sound and smoke ratings. We guarantee that all of our work complies with the manufacturer’s specifications, the National Construction Code and the relevant Australian Standards.

External Cladding & Facades
We have installed external cladding and constructed external facades on a number of high-profile projects in Newcastle and the Hunter Region. Our skilled tradespeople have the expertise and experience to ensure that the external of a building will look as great as the internal.

We are experienced in the installation of fibre cement (FC) and compressed fibre cement (CFC) as well as aluminium composite sheeting such as Alpolic, Alucobond and Vitrapanel and wood composite panelling such as Biowood.

The services that our company is able to offer in regards to external works include, but are not limited to, the following.

• Facades
• Eaves and soffits;
• Sarking, flashings and vapour barriers;
• Parapet walls;
• Acoustic barriers and enclosures.
