About us
We don’t divide architecture, landscape & gardening; they are seen as one…
A life long love of plants led me to the landscape industry, studying Landscape Design in 2002 and successfully winning Gold at the Ellerslie flower show as part of Unitec’s student team.Following that, I’ve worked hands-on in landscape construction and soft landscaping before returning to further study Landscape Architecture in 2010.
I found a passion for creating healthy environments with an ability to mitigate environmental issues, leverage therapeutic/sensory landscape techniques to relieve stress and mental fatigue, in addition to crafting stimulating spaces which facilitate learning and play for the whole community.
I have extensive experience, my portfolio includes work on high-end residential landscapes, lifestyle properties, urban courtyards, swimming pool design, playscapes for childcare centres and community parks, master planning, urban design, green roofs & green facades.
I really enjoy owning the design and implementation of projects, which fuels my creation and continued development of Design to Build Landscapes, enabling me to realise your vision, developing stimulating holistic landscapes from design through to planting.

What Inspires My Design
My designs are shaped by more than form and function—they are guided by the living essence of the whenua. I draw inspiration from the quiet language of nature: the flow of water, the resilience of native trees, the rhythm of seasons, and the spaces where people and place meet in harmony.
01 Nature as Teacher
The ocean, forests, and mountains remind me that design must always respect balance and flow. Every landscape has its own wisdom.
02 Cultural Threads
Kaitiakitanga (guardianship) and whakapapa (connection) inspire me to design with respect for land, ancestors, and future generations.
03 Design Icons
I find resonance in the bold geometry of Roberto Burle Marx, the soulful simplicity of Luis Barragán, and the timeless patterns of indigenous design.
I am also deeply inspired by the teachings of Shunmyō Masuno, a Zen master and garden designer, whose work reveals how stillness, emptiness, and mindful intention can transform space into sanctuary. Their collective wisdom reminds me to honour both art and ecology in my practice.
04 Personal Connection
Moments of stillness in my garden, the laughter of my son, or the way light dances across water—these experiences feed my creativity and remind me that design is ultimately about people finding belonging within nature.
