ALEXANDER WASTNEY

DESIGN DIRECTOR

Alexander is an industrial designer by training and has spent the last decade working across design businesses in NZ, the UK and in NYC. He's designed connected sports equipment for Gatorade, aircraft interiors for Emirates and spatial designs for numerous work-spaces and restaurants. Alexander started Designwell in 2016 with a goal to build better experiences across brand and spatial design.

KRISTIN WASTNEY

DESIGN DIRECTOR

Kristin is an accomplished graphic designer and brand guru. Having worked in studios in Wellington and London and for the United Nations in NYC she brings a wealth of international experience to her role as design director. She's passionate about seeing her home town (Hamilton) thrive and brings strategic positioning, creative direction and an expert eye for colour, layout and all things visual to our projects.

STEVE MILLS

HEAD OF CLIENT SERVICES

Steve brings over two decades of experience in commercial interiors and his deep understanding of workplace strategy, design and execution adds value to all of our projects. He goes above and beyond for our clients and is always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. Loved for his positive attitude, exceptional problem-solving and his ability to get things done, Steve is an asset to any project.

JACKI WELTEN

SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER

Born and bred in the Waikato, Jacki’s warm and generous nature makes her an ideal design collaborator. A people-person at her core, Jacki builds strong relationships with our clients and establishes a rich understanding of their project’s needs. She knows our samples library like the back of her hand, and her extensive knowledge of layout and CMF enable her to find the best solution for each unique project. Friendly, sociable and easy to trust, Jacki brings an irreplaceable energy to the team.

KANE WENMOTH

ARCHITECTURAL TECHNICIAN

Kane brings a strong strategic perspective to Designwell, advocating for the purpose of a project by gaining a deep understanding of it’s original intentions. He’s got an eye for detail and makes sure nothing gets missed, including opportunities. Kane exudes quiet positivity and optimism, creating an atmosphere of calm around his projects and achieving tasks methodically and efficiently.

PETE ALLELY

DESIGN TECHNICIAN

Pete is our resident guru on human centred design - a critical part of our process here at Designwell. He has extensive knowledge in user research techniques and a wealth of experience in creative problem solving. He has a background in service design and understands how crucial spatial design is in enabling and enhancing user experience. Most importantly though Pete is all about the detail and has become a valued part of our process by contributing as a Design Technician. A respected team member Pete is also amazing at music production and filmmaking!

ESSI AIRISNIEMI

STUDIO COORDINATOR

Essi's background as a creative gives her a good understanding of what it takes to deliver outstanding work. She keeps the Designwell team in rhythm, projects on course, and people and processes connected. Having grown up in sub-zero temperatures of Northern Finland, Essi is calm and pragmatic but likes to move fast and get things done. With a creative background, Essi enjoys collaborating on creative solutions to spatial business challenges and bringing clients along the journey.
