Eco habitats is an Architectural Design company that specializes in designing eco friendly homes. We pride ourselves on being able to provide innovative design solutions to meet all our client’s requirements. We believe that architectural design should be environmentally sensitive and promote sustainable building practices.

To show our commitment to this, we are a member of the Green Building Council and members of our team are Homestar Practitioners & Homestar Assessors What does this mean to our clients? We have access to the latest information and research into green building best practice, which enables us to offer you up to the minute advice for your project. As trained Homestar Professionals the team at eco habitats is able to give you guidance on the best combination of design and sustainability features for your building project.

The company Director, Lesley England, originally studied and completed an Honours Degree in Industrial Design at Brunel University, back in the UK. She then went onto work as a Product Designer for over a decade. After immigrating to New Zealand back in 2007, she took the opportunity to start on a new career path and returned to study. Whilst studying a Diploma in Architectural Technology she gained experience in an Architectural Design office, drawing up house plans for building consent applications. After completing her Diploma (with Merit), her ambition to design award winning homes led her to set up her own Architectural practice. She has since become a Homestar Practitioner and Assessor and has decided to specialise in designing and building environmentally friendly homes, as she is passionate about building warmer and healthier homes with a reduced environmental impact.

We have recently renovated and modernised our dated 1975’s Clinker Brick in Mellon’s Bay, Auckland
ECOHABITATS was employed as the Architects to modernise and control the build
Lesley was always available to discuss our needs and with her expertise was able to incorporate these into the drawings, and build.

We came across Lesley at the eco section of the Auckland Home Show and were impressed from the start by her commitment to sustainable principles.
Our bach renovations have been undertaken with care and thought. We loved Lesley's enthusiasm about our project. She had lots of great ideas, eg who'd have thought about putting a second bathroom into that space! She listened to our ideas carefully and then did a great job of improving them. She was quick and thorough with the many changes in the early stages of our project.
She listened to us and communicated very effectively with us throughout the whole process, and now we are underway with the building we know we can contact her easily if we or the builder have questions. The builder and the kitchen company have found her plans detailed and easy to read.

Via a recommendation, my wife and I employed the services of Lesley to manage the Architectural work for our property in Howick Auckland.
With a significant alteration required to achieve the end goal, we wanted to work with a company and individual who could offer us the direction and vision to maximise the space and budget we had to work with.
The options and design concepts Lesley presented were fantastic, options we had not considered, detail around the practical application of these and costs involved made the decision making process all that much easier.

We commissioned Lesley to prepare plans for alterations to an existing rental property. As the existing plans were unable to be used, Lesley had to redraw and complete plans to Council requirements before commencing the plans for alteration approval.
Her knowledge of the building act and her ability to forsee potential problems really impressed us.
She has since designed a new house on a subdivided section and has come up with amazing ideas to get around difficult council requirements.
Her work has always been to schedule and results have been beyond expectations.
