Fifth Season Landscapes NZ

After initially wanting to venture into architecture at university, the idea of being able to combine the built form with the natural environment as a landscape architect became instantly more appealing.

Having studied Landscape Architecture at the University of Western Australia and graduated back in 2008, Levi has over 10 years of experience focused on the D&C residential realm, where the creation of personal spaces for individual clients provides him real challenges and job satisfaction.

A childhood spent in the beautiful West Australian outdoors as part of a big, social family, along with extensive travel around the world, really helped me develop an appreciation for outdoor living. Now I love to translate that passion into the design of tailor made spaces for our clients to enjoy in the same way, and look forward to bringing this to our New Zealand clientele.

I always look to nature for inspiration. As a family we love spending plenty of time outside, and it’s in these spaces, whether it be bush or coastal walks, public gardens or parklands, where you see what really works and thrives. With New Zealand’s incredible tapestry of plant life, natural beauty and seasonal variance, and many clients desire to really connect with this, I find drawing on these spaces helps drive my designs.

I also love the juxtaposition between raw, brutal structural elements and greenery. Studying the strong, simple, linear forms of Mies Van Der Rohe and Luis Barragan’s architecture, along with the combination of art and garden explored by Roberto Burle Marx is no doubt where this stems from, and something I look to draw on.
