Hawes Building Solutions is a trusted name in the Bay of Plenty. Established by Mark Hawes in 2000, this friendly family-owned construction company has a clear focus on providing excellent service to clients who require quality design, construction and project management for their residential or commercial construction projects.

At Hawes Building Solutions Ltd., it's our vision to provide an honest, reliable and high-quality service to all our customers. Forming positive and ongoing relationships is what matters most. We are our word, and our reputation means everything.

The principals of the company are Directors Mark and Anthony Hawes. Mark is a qualified carpenter with more than 26 years served in the building industry, and he’s our overall Construction Manager. Anthony is the company’s Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor. He is a qualified Quantity Surveyor with 28+ years’ experience in his field.

Hawes Building Solutions Ltd currently has a team of 14 full-time staff which includes site managers, tradesmen, and apprentices. A pool of skilled and committed contracting carpenters can be called upon as required. We believe it is essential that more skilled carpenters enter the building industry, which is why we are keen to take on and train apprentices.

The business is a member of the Certified Builders Association of New Zealand, and Mark Hawes has been a Carpentry and Site 2 Licensed Building Practitioner since 2008. All our site managers are also Licensed Building Practitioners.

Personal service and great communications are key in the way we work at Hawes, and we take great pride in the quality workmanship and positive attitude of our team.

We began with a plan of how the renovation would be managed as we were to continue living downstairs. Through good communication as to where all the workers would be each day this was achieved happily for us.

As a team they worked efficiently and moved very quickly through the renovation. The quality of all the workmanship was excellent, a happy blend of talent and skills. They were always prompt and if at all going to be late, would explain why.

Estimates were given promptly if any additional costs were to be incurred. We were given a starting date and finishing date and they were within these dates. Honest, reliable, totally trustworthy and competent.

Hawes made it easy to live onsite. Dean, Andrew and all the guys from Hawes were very professional. They left the site clean and tidy at the end of every day. They thought about noise, dust, weather etc and took steps to minimise the impact wherever possible.

Our library upgrade began in February 2010 and was completed in May 2010. Throughout this time Mark and Anthony Hawes have always considered our daily timetabling and school learning and worked around our requests (eg testing of children etc). With the majority of work being done during school hours they kept us informed if there was an opportunity for us to take photos for tracking the progress in our library diary.

We met regularly with our architect and were impressed with the efficiency that changes were made by Hawes Building to help us with our budgetary restraints and new requirements.

The site was kept tidy and safe for the 60 pupils and school staff. Workers arrived early and worked throughout the day. Anthony was always willing to explain my queries (of which there were several) to a Principal without a builders knowledge!

I would thoroughly recommend Hawes Building Solutions Ltd to anyone with a building project. I look forward to working with them on Stage 2 or our development in July 2011.

Extending a house whilst living in it with a young family could have been a very difficult experience, but Hawes Building Solutions with their wonderful team of builders made it easy. As project manager, Mark contributed hugely to this with his fantastic communication skills, organisation and attention to detail. We have no hesitation in recommending both Mark and Anthony Hawes; builders of the highest calibre. Anthony is also a Quantity Surveyor.
We came to live at our property on Marine Parade three years ago. Our house being of the older type needed lots of renovation. We were also without a garage so that had to be built as well. The list is quite long but the boys have mentioned some of the work above. The quotes when asked for were done efficiently and explicitly. Any changes made along the way were taken into consideration and dealt with without a fuss.
Mark has his boys on the job early morning and they work through the day tirelessly. I have always been impressed with the thorough tidy up at the end of the day. Nothing is left out of place.

Honesty is hard to come by these days. This is to us paramount. You won’t find anyone as upfront as these boys. Along with this comes the willingness to listen and the big smiles! It makes a difference having builders on your property that you know you can safely hand your house keys to.

Lots more we could say but will leave it at that. We would thoroughly recommend Hawes Building Solutions to anyone out there wanting nice guys and great builders.

It was a difficult site to contend with due to the drainage and piling required. However the problems were overcome. We made constant demands for changes as the construction progressed, but the team responded well to our requests. Particular mention should be made of the Site Foreman who couldn’t have been more helpful, understood our needs and quite often was pro-active in raising questions to avoid issues later on.

Many thanks for making the Hall available for an open day to allow the Oropi residents and others to find out for themselves what lay behind the big white fence. We had a wonderful afternoon with over 160 people signing the register and many more coming through also including Todd Muller, our MP, and three Western BOP District Councillors.

People were “blown away” with what they saw and we received so many lovely comments throughout the afternoon.

Our Hall committee would like to congratulate and thank Hawes Building Solutions for the very high standard of workmanship that has gone into the re-development project. The stage is a real feature of the Hall as is the entrance and lobby with its curved ceiling.

I can ask Mark “what I should do here?” and he will come up with ideas and it will always be the right thing to do. A number of concept proposals were put forward by Hawes’s in house architect and eventually a design was agreed and full working drawings were prepared for building consent lodgement. Hawes were able to value engineer the build to meet the budget.

Hawes also have a great team of consultants on hand that provide specific information and detailing on engineering, geotechnical, fire rating and site surveying.’
