Residential

Why Use A Consultant?

  • Using a consultant is beneficial because they provide an unbiased design which specifically suits your home.
  • A consultant can suggest ways to heat and cool your home which you may never have thought of.
  • With so many brands available such as: Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Daikin, Fujitsu and Hitachi it offers the client confidence that the consultant is an independent voice without specific affiliations to a certain brand.
  • A consultant is able to provide a plan considering all requirements for your home which then enables you to get competitive and comparative quotes more effectively.
  • Designing in keeping with the style of your property is very important which again is not always considered by installers.

The Importance Of High Quality Air Conditioning Design

  • A consultant will make unit selections based on specific heat load calculations. Correct calculations ensure that equipment selected meets your specific requirements.
  • Without a consultant there is high potential for under sizing equipment resulting in poor internal temperatures or over-sizing resulting in over pricing and poor temperature control due to high air movement.
  • A consultant understands glazing solar heat gain which is commonly misunderstood and is able to consider: glass type, solar factor, shading coefficient and orientation all of which are crucial to a successful design.
  • A consultant will take time to consider unit location to ensure effective proximity, maintenance access and aesthetic location.
  • A consultant will consider acoustics and vibration aspects as they relate to the living space.

Commercial

Dave Foley’s extensive portfolio of designs include:

  • Hotels
  • Resorts
  • Gyms/spas and pools
  • Schools
  • Churches
  • Retail
  • Offices and warehouses

The drivers of repeat business are price, expertise, communication, practicality of design, and ownership of every project from beginning to end. Dave’s dedicated and personal approach has caused him to be awarded many significant hotel projects including those belonging to New Zealand’s largest private owner of hotels.

H1 Energy Efficiency

HVAC Design New Zealand can provide H1 Compliance Reports for Building Envelope Thermal Performance.

Significant changes have been made to the H1 section of the building code which impacts: architects, manufacturers, suppliers, builders and homeowners. This will impact any building consents lodged after 2 November 2022.

The changes go as far as is practical and achievable using current insulation products and construction design and practices to create better quality homes and buildings for New Zealand with less impact on the environment. Updates aim to reduce energy needed to heat and cool new buildings.

There are some groups who see these changes as too light, however, they are a minimum standard and any specifier can design a building with increased standards to reduce heating and cooling demand even further.
