It is unfortunate but not all businesses succeed. Even large well known brands have been known to close quite unexpectedly. Too often consumers are the victims when a company closes its doors. Consumers have often paid deposits worth thousands of dollars and many do not succeed in retrieving their money.

A new kitchen is a substantial investment and we want you to feel confident that your deposit is secure.

The Kitchen Guarantee Fund (KGF) is an independent fund that was started in 2002 in order to provide its members with an independent guarantee for their clients. Innovative Kitchens has been a member since the inception of the KGF. All deposits from Innovative Kitchens clients are protected and guaranteed by the KGF.

The KGF is operated as a separate entity from Innovative Kitchens. Claims will be accepted if Innovative Kitchens is no longer in business. Otherwise any claims are in first instance to be handled and covered by Innovative Kitchens. The guarantee covers your deposit, all units, benchtops, hardware and installation, provided these have been arranged and supplied by Innovative Kitchens. It excludes appliances and sub-trades that have not been supplied by Innovative Kitchens.

Before delivery of the kitchen the balance owing is paid by the client into the KGF trust account. Trust accounts are kept separate from trading bank accounts and at no time are funds used for operational expenses of the fund. Funds are held on behalf of or "in trust" for the customer and no claim exists on these funds by KGF. 40% of the balance is paid to Innovative Kitchens on notice of delivery. The remaining 10% of the value of the kitchen remains in the KGF trust account until the client signs a release form on the completion of the installation.

This time is spent getting to know what you would like in your kitchen, your vision for your kitchen, your kitchen needs and wants. You could bring in architect’s plans and drawings or measure your kitchen space and bring us a dimensioned drawing.  We ask for 3-5 days to process the brief before meeting with you again (Step 3).

Step 2  Site visit (approximately 1 hour plus travel time)
We can do a site visit. We meet in your home, measure the space accurately and get to experience and discuss the layout with you. In many cases we are able to offer helpful advice or make suggestions on architectural changes which impact the kitchen design. We ask a minimal charge to cover our professional time.

Step 3  Initial concept development and presentation (approximately 30 min)
We meet in the showroom and present our initial concepts and provide a budget estimate. You select the concept to take to the next step. We release plans and drawings when you commit to the design bond.

Step 4  Design bond
The detailed design stage involves considerable design time and attention to detail in order to produce accurate plans and elevations. Research time is required in order to specify the appropriate cabinetry, hardware, waste bins, sinks, taps and appliances and to obtain quotes for benchtops, splashbacks and any custom cabinetry. Typically this step requires a minimum of 20 hours of design work. We communicate regularly, presenting detailed design drawings in the form of plans, elevations and 3D images. In order for us to commit our valuable time to detailed design drawings, we require you to register a Design Bond with us. Your bond is protected by the independent Kitchen Guarantee Fund.

Step 5  Final design plans and purchase agreement
We work together to finalise all aspects of the design and specifications. We finalise the budget and sign a purchase agreement.  At this point we require a deposit of 50% in order to start the production. The Design Bond is transferred into the deposit.  If you do not want to proceed with manufacture a design fee of $80/hour will be levied against the Design Bond to a maximum of $2,000, unless otherwise contracted.

Step 6  Production (manufacture)
We manufacture your kitchen in our award winning factory.
Lead times

-    melamine kitchens – usually 4 weeks.

-    Dezignatek/Arborform kitchens – usually 4-5 weeks.

-    Lacquer and wood veneer kitchens – usually 5-6 weeks.

Once the kitchen is ready, you are welcome to inspect the kitchen in the factory.

Step 7  Delivery and installation
Before delivery we require the 50% balance of the agreement to be paid into the Kitchen Guarantee Fund.  Installation takes between 3-5 days for medium sized kitchens. After delivery the Kitchen Guarantee Fund releases 40% of the balance to Innovative Kitchens.

Step 8  Benchtop templating, manufacture and installation
Bench top templating, if required, takes place as soon as the cabinets are installed.
Bench top is manufactured and installed.  Timeline:    2-3 weeks turnaround. 
The sub-trades electrical, plumbing, gas fitting, ducting and building complete connections and final works.

Step 9  Splashback templating, manufacture and installation
Splasback templating takes place after the benchtop is installed.
Splashback is manufactured and installed. Timeline:    2-3 weeks turnaround.

Step 10  Signoff
Once you are fully satisfied that everything has been completed according to the agreement, you sign the Kitchen Guarantee Fund Release Form, releasing the final 10% payment to Innovative Kitchens.
