Lighting Automation using dimmable lights and pre-set scenes can change lighting levels to affect mood, emphasize architecture, illuminate art, and aid in tasks. Architects and lighting designers have long understood the power of light and its ability to define, highlight, and transform architecture. To manipulate LED lighting in such a way as to simultaneously evoke subtlety and complexity requires good design and the use of digital dimming technologies. Intellisys in conjunction with renowned lighting designers have been implementing such solutions in complex projects since 2008 with stunning results.

Automation should mean that many operational aspects of a “smart house” should happen without requiring a direct input from the users. Our managed controls may include all forms of heating/cooling/vents/fans, pool controls, irrigation, blinds, lighting , security/access control, with the behaviour modified to suit whether the house is occupied or not.

Automation should also mean enhancement of the owners security, comfort, convenience and lifestyle while lowering the overall running costs.

Our security solutions are customised to suit individual needs. Using proven products from around the world, we will ensure that you have the most suitable and reliable security system to protect your home or business from theft or fire. Our chosen security systems, with access control, smoke and intrusion detection gives the ability to monitor and control all doors and windows, VOIP based gate/door stations, provide remote access and feedback monitoring to smart devices and have full integration into our automation systems.

If a swimming pool is part of your new house project and if you wish to open your living spaces to the deck, pool and the views beyond, then the last thing you would want is a pool fence between the house and the pool. Born out of necessity, Intellisys has created “Virtual” pool fences using technology that creates an invisible barrier between the house and the pool which have been approved by the Auckland Council in a growing number of projects.

Technology is moving very quickly in this area so good design and cabling strategies are very important to ensure that the building will be able to adopt future options without major site work. Streaming and other Digital Technologies such as HDMI dominates design considerations. Of course, there are many (and growing) ‘wireless’ options but the reliability of their use is dependant very much on the construction of the house and the bandwidth requirements.

Intellisys has many speaker options to suit all budgets, room sizes, outdoors (decks, gardens, and coastal environments), hidden speakers and subwoofers, in- or on-wall. These can be powered using centrally controlled, matrixed amplifiers using keypads, tablets and phones.

We also have many years of experience in HDMI distribution and have solutions to distribute HD, 3D and 4K content over HDMI to multiple televisions and projectors.

Intellisys designed and built theatres are stunning and finished to a “Gold Class” standard. The rooms are fully acoustically treated using absorbers, bass traps and diffusers. After rigorous testing and tuning, the theatres are beautifully “wrapped” in stretched acoustic fabrics. Having spent 6 months doing research and development in our own theatre, Intellisys’ theatres take Home Cinema to the next level.

The audio standard is set by the use of the legendary M&K speakers and, subwoofers. These are used in all the major movie studios for their sound editing and mixing including Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings Trilogy, King Kong)  and Lucas Film (Star Wars). Many of the movies recorded using M&K equipment have gone on to win Academy Awards for sound. Our own demonstration theatre has now been showcased by M&K: https://mksound.com/case/the-intellisys-theatre/

Acoustic treatment is not only confined to the cinema room, but can also be used in other rooms of the house to reduce the amount of echo and reflection that is common in contemporary architecture. We use Stretched Fabrics to both ‘hide’ the very inexpensive room treatment material as well as enhance the aesthetics of the walls and ceilings, at a cost comparable to standard paint finishes.

Data networks and distributed wifi are essential in all ‘smart’ houses. As the houses increase in size, managed multiple wifi access points and cabled links for these and other devices requiring high speed network connections are a neccesity to be designed in. There may also be requirements for wireless network connections between buildings, which require further design considerations and specialist equipment.  Intellisys’ experience in data network design spans over 30 years.

VOIP telephony and PBX’s are replacing the old analog PABX’s and telephones. Although cell phones are seen as replacements for ‘landlines’, this is still not the case. Fibre based internet provides a great platform for low cost VOIP service to the house. Within the house, the inexpensive PBX’s allow VOIP phones (available as both Video/Audio and Audio only) to be used as intercoms, phone extensions and video/audio extensions to door and gate stations. Even cell phones can become part of the VOIP phone system with appropriate apps.
