John and his team at L&S Construction recently completed the renovation of 2 bathrooms for us. Throughout the process we were kept well-informed of costs and timeframes. Any variations in either area were clear, well communicated and importantly, accurate.

Respect was paid to the runnings of a busy family in terms of minimising disruptions and in making the process as pain free as possible. We would have absolutely no hesitation in using L&S Construction again, or in recommending them to others.

Since construction took place, John and Glenn have exceeded our expectations. They are very meticulous about their standard of work, which flows through to the products they use, and the subcontractors that they rely on, the subcontractors are also expected to have the same quality of products and high standards, as set by John and Glenn.

It is their communication that allows our understanding of building a house to be a lot less stressful, and we enjoy looking forward to the next steps in the development.

Glenn and John were great to work with, they were professional, organised and did a great job on the build. They were always in communication with us and the architect about the design and nothing seemed to be too difficult or too much trouble.

They ensured that all the work carried out was completed to the highest standard, and came up with some great cost saving ideas, that did not detract from the overall design – even our architect commented on how great they were to work with. We have employed Glenn Steen & John Leonard on two occasions to do building work on our property. The first time we used both Glenn & John for this work was for a couple of months earlier.

On the first occasion we asked L&S Construction to completely guide and rebuild two bathrooms at our home. One was an upstairs bathroom, the other a new area downstairs. The upstairs existing bathroom had particle board as the existing flooring and we were given the option of removing this non-waterproof flooring and adding instead a marine ply floor. This we did willingly to ensure no future problems in this area.

The job of refitting both rooms was done expertly and we were impressed with the workmanship employed. At all times we were kept up to date on progress and given the opportunity of discussing options along the way. The finish of both bathrooms was extremely good and we were more than happy with the final result.

While both Glenn & John were in the middle of this project we also referred them to a friend of ours who was deciding on a similar project.

On the second occasion we contacted L & S Construction Ltd to replace damaged Hardiplank weatherboards on our garage. This work was recently undertaken and has been completed in a very neat, tidy and timely fashion.

These two builders are different to many other tradesmen we have dealt with over the past few years. They actually turn up on the day, and at the time, originally promised. In fact they normally turn up earlier. Their Communication skills are good.

Glenn & John from L&S Construction started work on my 1920’s bungalow in Westmere, starting with removal and addition of walls, re-placement of windows and preparation of the kitchen area for the new kitchen, Ian (Employee) worked great each day, completing tasks methodically and timely, I was impressed with the overall work standard, the organisation shown by them and the costs associated. Nothing was a problem and communication was brilliant.

I subsequently got them back soon after to completely re-do the main bathroom and ensuite, including reconfiguring the entire area, adding a larger walk in wardrobe, replacing old ceilings, re-doing the concrete and timber floors, the list goes on. This time Glenn, Ian and Dale all worked on the site at different stages, they always kept me informed of progress, managed the sub trade guys brilliantly and always checked to ensure I was happy.

The best part about L&S construction is the old school service and the open book policy on costs, they don’t run the business as most builders/ tradespeople tend to do (with assuming the home owner has an open cheque book), they give a good guide on price and are happy to show receipts during the process so you can rest assured the charged amounts are fair and accurate. Not wishy-washy and aloof. If anything changes, it is discussed and a guide again given.
