We retired to our beach bach in early 2019 and realised we would have to renovate to make it our permanent “home.” It was quite a renovation and changed an unprepossessing bach into a very comfortable home.

Ruth and Steve arranged to meet us late 2019 to discuss the architect’s plan and to give us a quotation. From that very first meeting we felt reassured that we were doing the right thing and that we were in safe, and very capable hands. Their approach was truly professional and they guided us old “reno newbies” through the myriad insurances and engineering requirements etc etc!!

Then in early 2020 Covid struck with a vengeance! They took it in their stride. They navigated through difficulties such as broken supply chains and increased costs but never to our detriment.

The Legacy Building Team was a pleasure to have on site – the young men were incredibly industrious and we enjoyed every morning tea with them! They reflected Ruth and Steve’s insistence on standards.

Once again we would thoroughly recommend this couple and their firm to anyone looking to build or renovate.

What impressed me most about the services provided by Legacy Building NZ were:

1. On each occasion when quotes were requested to be provided for proposed works, these were provided within a day of any instructions given. Quotes were clear, detailed, thorough and precise;

2. All work was commenced within a fortnight (or earlier) of any quotes being agreed, and the work was commenced on the days planned and detailed in the quote, then completed within the proposed completion dates;

3. Steve and his team were very flexible when there were the inevitable variations or additional works required. These variations were clearly priced and separated in subsequent invoicing;

4. Steve and each of his staff members were incredibly pleasant and professional to deal with, and along with the high standard of work completed, everything was conducted in a totally trust-worthy and cheerful manner;

I would have no hesitations about engaging the company (Steve and his team) for any subsequent work, and would be happy to talk directly with any proposed clients who might be seeking direct reassurance.

When we decided to renovate our Waikanae Beach property we reached out to Legacy Building. Steve and Ruth came to our home, looked over our plans and provided assurance that what we were trying to achieve could be done. They were friendly, engaging, professional and enthusiastic about our project. Once we had confirmed our plans with our architect, Legacy provided a quote and Ruth came and talked us through it. How the project had been costed, how payment would work and timeframes for job completion. This personal touch reassured my wife and I as this was our first significant home renovation.

When the project commenced we were introduced to the Legacy team, we appreciated this as these men would be in our home for the next 10 weeks. At the outset of the project we were impressed as the team were always on site early and ensured the site remained maintained and tidy. Professional throughout. As the project continued we were introduced to electricians, plasterers, painters. The Legacy team made us feel we were really part of the process (which is what we wanted). The quality of the work was top-notch, we couldn't fault it.

The Legacy team kept us fully informed. Steve was also able to offer us guidance on our plans and ideas that he felt in his experience could be improved upon. We trusted Steve to make the best decisions and he did. He has high expectations of both himself and his staff and this really showed in the way they conducted themselves. Because of the quality of work we were able to sell this property for a great price in a downmarket. I just wish Steve and the team lived in the area where we moved to because we would use them again, and again.

Legacy has completed several projects at our property, ranging from construction maintenance work through to managing heavy earthworks that require engineering design. In each case, their professionalism, quality of workmanship, and attention to detail has been outstanding.

We also feel valued and respected at every stage of our projects. Steve, in particular, goes out of his way to ensure we understand what to expect and are comfortable with how the work is progressing. Whether he's patiently guiding us through our options during the quoting phase, or answering our questions at the end of the job, I've always found him friendly, knowledgeable and responsive.

They have always treated my family and home with respect, and seem to care about doing a good job as much as I do.

Once everything was approved, he was available with his team to start right away as he kept my slot in his work schedule.
