About us
Matt gave his name to the business because he is proud to stand behind the work he does.
He has been in the building industry his whole working life. Matt started M Hewat Construction in 2012 and has built the business from there, now employing four staff.
Through his career Matt has worked on the complex and the grand, the simple and the small. He offers a personalised service, and will work with clients to get the result they want.
Matt is a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP), and is also a Registered Master Builder. He is committed to quality workmanship, and this is shown by his success in achieving a silver award at the 2018 Registered Master Builder House of the Year competition.
Matt has been building in Canterbury for 8 years and can take on jobs in Christchurch, Waimakariri, Selwyn, Banks Peninsula, and wider Canterbury.
Services
New builds
We will work with you through the whole process, from design to completion. If you don’t know where to start that’s ok, just give us a call and Matt will be here to help.
Renovations
Whether you have an exact picture of what you want, or whether you’re after ideas, we can help. We will work with you to transform your space and get a result you will love.
Repairs and maintenance
We can help identify the cause of any problems around the house, and develop a solution for your individual needs and budget.
Exterior cladding
For your external cladding needs wood is a warm and softer look for your home. We can install cedar and other wooden cladding. Or you may prefer James Hardie claddings for durability and lower maintenance, which we can also install.
Decks
Liven up your outdoor space and increase its functionality with a new deck. We can design something that suits your needs, and build a quality, lasting deck.
Pre-purchase
We work with Trusted Property Inspections. We highly recommend that everyone get an inspection report before buying, especially in the post-earthquake market.
