It is extremely important that bathroom products are installed correctly as per the manufactures installation instructions. This is for both warranty purposes and product longevity. Renovations

1. Initial Contact

This is the first opportunity for you to tell us about your project, and for us to ask you some detailed questions so we can get a good understanding of what type of project you have and what you want to achieve, from there we then book you into our Face to Face consultation.

2. Face To Face Consult

Paul will meet you onsite for this one-hour consultation. This meeting allows us to survey the site on which the build is to take place. With 16+ years of building experience, you will be able to discuss plans, budgets, timeframes, design functionality, and Paul will go over any council requirements you may need to help you create the dream home that you deserve.

3. Floor Plan And Concept Drawings

At this step we can either use your existing plans you have, to put together some costing’s or help transfer your thoughts and dreams onto paper using one of our partnered and reputable architects who will take your plan right through to the council approval stage.

4. Working Drawings

After you receive approved plans we’ll provide you with a completely transparent budget for all works required on your job. This is detailed in your comprehensive estimated cost breakdown and we price every detail of your planned building works by using a 257 point checklist. Your involvement with your build can be as flexible as you want. As your building specialist, you can choose for us to fully project manage your job for a seamless and stress-free building experience.

5. Contracts Signed/Work Begins

Once you’ve approved the budget we’ll provide you with a comprehensive Master Builders 10-year Guarantee Application Form and a Schedule of Works outlining time frames and stages of work. At this stage, we will also sign all contracts and guarantees and your work will begin

6. Job Progression

During the course of your build, there will be weekly timetabling, site meetings, and budget reviews, allowing you to make confident and informed decisions. We will have weekly site meetings to go over everything that is happening on the site and how the entire build is progressing from a timeline right through to a budget.

7. Completion And Handover

Once the final council inspection has been obtained, we will go through our no-fail checklist again to ensure every box has been ticked. Once you’re fully satisfied with the results, we will provide you with the guarantees, certifications, and information relating to your job. Last but not least, we will organise your free top to bottom house clean as a thank you for choosing to build with Mchaffie Builders.

At what point do I choose my builder?

This can vary a lot, someone like you might already have a plan and design of what you would like built in place or you might want to have the professional expertise of a builder from the very start, which would be a very good idea for you, with new builds, there tend to be complications and important details that only a certified builder such as McHaffie Builders can spot from years of experience. This can essentially, in the long run, help you maintain your build timeframe and budget.

Will I need building consent?

The majority of building work you do from new build to renovations requires consent at each stage. Whether it be structural, roofing or even moving services, they will all require you to obtain consent. Therefore it would be very vital for you to involve McHaffie Builders from the very start, as we can then guide you on the right path, as we have detailed knowledge of the building industry that we have grasped over the years and can, therefore, educate you on what consents would be needed, whether for your renovation or your new build.

Will I have to lodge the building consent myself?

Certainly not as mentioned before, our team is proficient enough and experienced when it comes to contents and so forth and we will take care of lodging the application on your behalf. We try and make the experience the most enjoyable and stress-free we can for you, so you can sit back and relax and watch your build take shape. Adding to that all our paperwork is combined and handed to you, at the start, so that you can sign and hand it back. The McHaffie Builders team will then hand your consent in for council approval, making it that much easier for you without having to even lift a finger….well just to sign.

What is the benefit of choosing an LBP?

Work involving the building structure, weather tightness, and design or fire safety systems all require to be completed by a licensed building practitioner. So the benefit is for you, as all of the critical work we will do either for your new build or renovation, you will be covered by our LBP license. Also, the LBP license gives you the added assurance that McHaffie Builders only employ experienced and experts in their field, as each of the staff has their LBP license which guarantees your build to be done professionally.

Do I get a guarantee?

YES! At McHaffie Builders we will give you our 287 Point Quality Assurance Checklist so even the smallest details of home construction are checked, ensuring your home is built to the highest quality. Also, our personal guarantee will be given to you for the added assurance that we will cover you from start to finish.

How can I keep my project within our budget?

The only way you can guarantee this is if you enter your build with a full contract. This will give you a fixed price estimate, we will discuss all the prime cost sums and work out if you are likely to spend more on variables e.g. kitchen tiles, carpets etc. Also best to keep in mind that there are some extra costs to the homeowner that are not included in a quote such as, kitchen appliances, curtains and blinds, garden landscapes, these items can add up quickly, but no stress our budgeting tool will help assist you with everything so you can manage all these additional costs STRESS-FREE.
