This is to provide a testimonial to the work of Peter and Paul Rovers of RBJ Ltd Queenstown Peter and Paul built MunaMoke (see website www.munamoke.co.nz) in 2002. Munamoke was built to plans designed by Ed Elliott of Elliott Architect Queenstown and the whole project was completed in our absence whilst we lived in Sydney. We have been involved with a number of building projects and viewed the Queenstown project with trepidation given our distance from the job. We couldn’t have been more wrong.

Throughout the entire project, we found RBJ to be honest, communicative, and highly innovative. Rather than simply build the designs provided to them, Peter and Paul constantly challenged those designs with our best interests in mind. They were incredibly proactive in seeping out superior solutions to all those inevitable issues that arise with any building project.

Furthermore, when we finally arrived in Queenstown to view the finished product, we were stunned by the duality. We had just completed a Sydney building development with a well-regarded Sydney architect and builder and the quality just wasn’t comparable. RBJ’s attention to detail on finishes, levels, flashing, etc was outstanding.

We visit MunaMoke once or twice yearly and rent it for short-term stays over the rest of the year through QT Accommodation Centre. They will testify that, because of its design, craftsmanship, and location, it is one of their favourite honeymoon rentals. Tellingly, since its completion date, we have had reason to ask RBJ to rectify a minor fault on only one occasion. The house presents as well today as it did on its completion.

Finally, and on a personal note, you could not meet a more genuine pair of blokes than Peter and Paul. They’d rather disadvantage themselves than harm the interests of a client or friend. I have no hesitation in recommending RBJ and their work.

We have been the developers of a rural hamlet development in the Wakatipu Basin known as Stonebridge. This comprises 50 acres with eight individual freehold titles, each of approximately 1 acre. The individual lot owners own the other common 40 acres in undivided equal share. The common land is covenanted to prevent further subdivision or further building.

Four houses have been built to date and a fifth is under construction now. All of the houses are substantial and individual, based on strict design controls set to maintain a high standard of design, materials and construction as well as homogeneity within the hamlet. Our own house was the first to be built. The Rogers Bros (RBJL) have built all the houses in Stonebridge, which in itself, is a clear testimonial to their integrity and capability.

Our house was built in 2001. The barn was commenced in January and the main house was commenced in April. We moved in on Xmas Eve 2001. (In 2002, Peter and Paul’ team were back to build our boat/tractor shed).

With Peter and Paul being the builders for all the houses so far we have come to know them well. They exercised good cost control and are capable managers. Our dealings with them can be summed up by saying that building our house was a (generally) stress free and enjoyable experience. Peter and Paul between them have complementary skills that make RBJL a reliable operator capable of taking on a wide range of projects. Their staff are competent and capable.
