Testimonials

We own a 50 year old Lockwood, and after being rejected by the first few builders we contacted, Substrait Construction came to the party to install our new double glazed windows. Gray and the team at Substrait Construction were great to deal with from start to finish. They overcame a number of challenges that our Lockwood home presented along the way. Communication was very clear through every step, and whenever a potential variance was discovered Gray was awesome at talking through any options around these. 10/10, we would recommend Substrait Construction to anyone! if you're looking for a quality builder look no further.

Our beautiful brick and cedar home was in need of a refresh of new cedar boards with a pre-oil before installation for longevity, soffits and bargeboards repainted. Gray managed the whole process - carpentry, painting and timber preparation subcontractors, scaffolding hire. Gray was easy to work with, listened well, gave clear suggestions and advice, outlined the time, materials, and costs clearly and accurately. He let us know that the start was interrupted by covid lockdowns which he managed in his stride. I particularly appreciated the ongoing contact - enough to keep me in the loop, not so much as to feel intrusive. The work was well done and within the timescale. Gray and his team were efficient, accommodating, and easy to have around my home - I was there during the time this was all done. The quality of the carpentry work was excellent on a job that required some precision matching and cutting to a variety of shapes. Visitors, neighbours, and friends comment on the quality of the finish. I have Gray in mind for another job that is coming up.

The "Michael Angelo tile" ceilings in our 40-year home were in need of attention. The existing ceiling were difficult to keep clean and beginning to sag(pull away from ceiling battens). We contacted Gray and arranged for an assessment of the job and a quote.

Gray viewed the job and provided advice on how to proceed. From our first meeting we found Gray was great to deal with, he was open, demonstrated confidence and knowledge, that in turn gave us confidence in his ability to carry out the work to a high standard.

As the job progressed there were a couple of things that needed attention. Gray discussed these items and provided solutions to ensure that the job was completed to a high standard. It was this attention to detail and willingness work through these issues that was the hallmark of this job.

For us the most important aspect was the quality of the job, and this is what we got with Gray and his team at Substrait Construction.
