Initial meeting

  • Meeting to establish the design brief including the client’s budget, timeframe and services required. The initial meeting will provide the scope of work and enable Taylored Spaces to provide a fee offer.

Concept

  • Before initiating concept drawings, town planning requirements are investigated to highlight any restrictions and resource consent requirements. Once established a sketch scheme including plans and elevations is produced matched to the design brief.

Developed Design

  • Further development of the concept drawings allowing the client to visual their project including 3D renders preliminary cross sections and confirming the construction methodology and materials. The developed design documentation will provide enough detail for a quantity surveyor or building contractor to review to ensure the budget aligns with the design.

Documentation

  • Preparation of the construction documentation for submission to the local territorial authority and building contractors. Working drawings including but not limited to site, floor, ceiling and finishes plans, elevations, sections, window and door details, construction details, joinery and fitting details.

Final inspection undertaken at the end of the contract works. Issuing of a defects list. Issuing of a practical completion certificate. It was a pleasure to work with Nathan who took what we wanted in a rural residence, capturing the sun and amazing views while creating a functional family home. Nathan was very professional, incorporating our needs with his creative ideas and advice, providing us with a design that fully realised the potential of the site

Christie and I really enjoyed working with Nathan, his professional but relaxed manner certainly kept the stress out of what was a very big project for us. Nathan took the time to listen to our dreams, wants and wishes and made them a reality. I really liked that Nathan also took the time to experiment with the plans to give us other ideas. We have been in our house for over a year now and absolutely love it, it's hard to go on holiday and leave our castle - even the kids just want to come back home!

Due to the fact that we are the third generation of our family to live in this area and indeed the second on this section we wanted our home to be special and have an enduring quality that generations to come will appreciate and treasure. Nathan came up with a truly unique design which fulfils this wish. The design enables us to get maximum use of an amazing coastal view and enjoyment of all available sun and natural light. We have a nice flow of indoor/outdoor living areas which Nathan incorporated in the design to be practical and functional. We found Nathan to be approachable enthusiastic and available during our design and build process, keen to give us the best results from our wish list. Well done and thank you

Jo and I found Nathan great to work with, listening to what we wanted to achieve with our new home, incorporating our ideas and designing a functional and stylish house, while sticking to our budget. Nathan orientated the house on the section to maximize the views and the sun. Being a masonry house this was imperative for passive heating which really comes into its own on those sunny Central Otago winter days. Nathan was great dealing with the consent and building process making it stress free by working with the builders and subcontractors ensuring all parties knew what was happening and making life easy for everyone involved

When we decided to proceed with our home renovations Nathan Taylor was highly recommended to us. Having a 1920's bungalow presents its own unique challenges as we were looking for an easy and seamless design process where we could inject our own ideas, blending timeless character with modern features. From the outset we were confident that we had chosen the right person to assist us in turning our design concepts into reality. Nathan is personable, experienced, trustworthy, easy to work with and listens to his clients. His practical input combined with design savvy ideas is a winning combination. With absolute confidence we highly recommend Nathan to prospective clients
