Do you need consent for a garage door?

Garage doors receive frequent use. As such, it’s recommended to service your door at least twice a year. The best time of the year to do this would be in the fall, just before the cold and wet winter. The other time would be during spring when the temperatures and moisture levels change again.

A garage door can last about 30 years with proper bi-annual maintenance and care in New Zealand. Circumstances such as someone driving into the door or heavy flooding could mean you need to replace the door much sooner. The lifespan of openers is much shorter, and you may have to replace the openers every ten to 15 years.
