Existing first floor in large roof space. Existing upstairs rooms jammed together with no sense. Alterations to add rear wing to blend in with existing architecture and unify the rear of the house whilst extending in a contemporary way. New pop-out kid’s playroom to rear of site.
A rumpus room or family playroom is associated with the values of generosity and sharing. Taking the space typically allocated to the master bedroom, the rumpus room can instead enjoy a view, lots of natural light and be tucked away in a more private aspect of the home. As a 'universal space' it has flexible uses eg: sleepovers and office. In this way, the traditional master bedroom space can effectively be 'given back to the house' for the whole family to enjoy.
