A vital meeting area

Claremont Plaza's history dates back, placing it as one of the oldest shopping centres in Tasmania. Prior to that it was a busy railway station, a central hub for many young Tasmanians travelling to and from Cadbury's Chocolate Factory and the Claremont Military Training Camp. Today's shopping centre is still used as a meeting point for elderly people and provides a valuable community connection. In the spirit of facilitating this, the Centre's owner provide new seating and commissioned Cathy McAuliffe Design to create a large range of history panels, celebrating the site's past. BYA Architects efficiently co-ordinated the refurbishment of the Centre, with minimal interruption to tenant's trading. A smart and light space was created.
