When the current owners walked on to this beautiful cliff top site, they instantly fell in love with the stunning views and peaceful location. However the existing building, landscaping and pool were somewhat tired and outdated with no architectural merit. Don Nelson was approached to undertake a visual pre-purchase feasibility. Don could see the potential of the existing structure being incorporated into a resort style clifftop property making an architectural statement.

On Don’s advice, the clients purchased the property and commissioned him to prepare sketch concept plans.

A tiered poolscape and sweeping balconies bring a touch of magic to this contemporary clifftop property. To create a link from the indoor and outdoor living areas, the two pools were stepped – the higher plunge pool has an infinity edge, so the water falls down to the existing swimming pool on the lower level. By night, lights illuminate the entire area.

The sense of grandeur continues on the inside – an imported marble staircase is a key feature of the double height entry. This echoes the curved architectural language of the exterior. The Mediterranean-style interior is also defined by exposed structural columns and open, flowing living spaces.
