Nestled within the Coast subdivision of Papamoa Beach, this small house is thoughtfully designed to blend harmoniously with its surroundings while addressing the challenges posed by its narrow east-facing section adjacent to a busy intersection. The architectural approach embraces a modest and unassuming façade, crafted to ensure that it remains a subtle addition to the landscape.
The residence prioritises functionality with a pragmatic approach to spatial planning: living spaces organised linearly, interfacing the northern aspect; bedrooms and services to the south and a deck to the northwest.
Form and materiality reflects the intersection between the urban and coastal aspects of the context. A low pitch roof and modest size plays with the bach typology, typical along the coastal surrounds, whilst white plaster and black accents invoke an urban and contemporary quality.
