Silver Quartzite Variable Length Cladding, Coatesville

Website

The scale and design of this house required a stone cladding that was linear in its look but also offered a sense of size and strength to anchor the seemingly floating roofline. It also needed to have a degree of variation to break up the horizontal lines, but not so much as to be a distraction.

Whilst we had the stone of choice in our stable of products, Quartzite Silver Slate, we didn’t have a cladding product that fully answered this brief.  Working with the architect’s direction and in conjunction  with one of our suppliers we developed what has become known as our Variable Length Cladding – a natural face stone cladding in lengths of 400mm, 600mm and 1,000mm x 85mm that is laid in a random fashion.  At 25mm thick there is definitely some substance to this cladding. Our background with both New Zealand and exotic stone claddings means we have a fully tested system for installing this product, which we have gone on to supply in a range of stone varieties.
