2018 Hawthorn East, Melbourne, Australia
Multi-Residential, Residential
Collection XI’s location in Hawthorn East places it within one of Melbourne’s most coveted residential sweet spots. It was important for us that this project would complement the surrounding estates, yet still stand as its own elegant entity.
Featuring 11 new homes, the development would stand as its own community. Our design narrative was inspired by imagery of small European towns; finding beauty and luxury in higher density living.
The central walkway that connects the houses allows for a sense of interconnection and unity, yet once behind closed doors, the usual privacy can be attained.
To ensure space, unique living experiences are created between housing. This would create a sense of community while still providing enough privacy. A well-landscaped garden provides a sense of overall calm and connection between the dwellings – to experience a sense of surrealism and romance as they explore the verdant pathways connecting each home.
The interiors of the residences allow each occupant the ability to personalise the space in any way desired, providing them with a base palette that complements the overall aesthetic of the development.
Careful planning maximises the homes living spaces and connects them to the outdoors, providing a private retreat to the upper floors for work and sleep. Rich timber floors coupled with light joinery elements and heavily veined marble provide luxurious natural textures throughout.
We are an international architecture and interior design practice with a vision to Nurture the Future. With offices in Melbourne, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, K2LD is now over 20 years old. We’re a proud, passionate and diverse group of individuals who combine to create great outcomes for our clients and the urban environment.
It’s in our differences that we find our distinctiveness, and that shows in our work – from all scales of single or multi-residential and commercial developments, through to public and private education and infrastructure projects throughout the region.
