Second Nature are specialists in collaborating with independent design professionals to deliver quality landscaping projects for our clients. This project is another successful collaboration between Damian Wendelborn of Urbanite Landscape Design and Second Nature.

A magnificent (and protected) Pohutukawa dominates the small back yard. Access to the site and the backyard was challenging. The client’s brief was to make the space inviting, attractive and to include a small swimming pool. Damien’s garden design elegantly resolved these challenges and has created a unique, beautiful and very useable outdoor living environment.
Any garden design in a small space demands an extra level of attention to detail as all elements are viewed from close quarters.. In this project, Damian was masterful with the detailing of every constructed element.

To deliver this project the Second Nature Team had to meet the many demands and challenges that the project presented. Access was limited, careful protection of the protected Pohutukawa was required and the working space very restricted. Effective project management was required throughout the project. The Second Nature team successfully delivered the clearance, excavation works, masonry walls, tile wall cladding, detailed decking, seating, timber steps, cedar boundary fencing, permeable paving, soil preparation, planting, automatic irrigation and lawn construction. Our talented construction team revelled in the opportunity to build the beautifully designed and crafted timber elements. The swimming pool was expertly constructed by Frontier Pools – a long-standing project partner.

Our specialist amenity horticulture team installed and continues to maintain the planted elements of the garden. The garden has matured and stands as testimony to a successful collaboration between inspired design, skilled craftspeople and a delightful client.
