Coronation Road House

Highly Commended – 2015, NZ House & Garden Room of the Year award (Kitchen). Commendation – 2016, Dulux Australasian award (Interior colour scheme). This large arts and craft inspired home undertook an extensive renovation. Mindful of preserving the heritage, the interior brief was to be in keeping with tradition yet with a modern twist. Taking cue from the outside garden, an understated and elegant colour palette of soft whites, pale blues and greens was applied by way of paint finishes and wallpapers. A Porters distemper paint in the main living room gave a lovely chalkiness to the space. The bathrooms followed through the colour palette in the tile selections of grey, white and marble mosaics and a vivid gold green wallpaper in one bathroom. The traditional styled kitchen was given a twist with a patterned splashback. Custom designed large light pendants were made for the living room. Existing light fittings were refurbished along with new lights installed. The exterior colour scheme painted in a soft blue/green tone carried through the overall colour scheme. Encaustic tiles in keeping with the heritage of the house were incorporated into the front steps.
