The build may have been difficult, but the living is easy in this 280sqm home sitting high in Hamilton’s north-east. While limited access and the complexities of construction were challenges, the design of this home has been created to optimise the elevated site. That’s evident right from the start, where a retained driveway leads to an in-house garage cleverly tucked from sight. A stylish, clean exterior is enhanced by horizontal and vertical timber battens, while the attention to detail carries through indoors. A key feature throughout is the use of curves and arch motifs, which lend a Mediterranean feel. The raked ceiling and the large feature windows in the open-plan living area give a wonderful sense of light and space. This spacious three-bedroom, two-bathroom dwelling comes with extra benefits. A high-spec kitchen with its walk-through scullery provides plenty of storage. Like the garage, a separate laundry is tucked tidily away. And the versatile layout of the large enclosed outdoor area extends to decking on either side, for year-round use.
