Intentional Simplicity

This project is a reminder that exceptional design isn't defined by budget, but by the care and consideration behind every decision. Working within a compact footprint, the brief was to preserve the home's existing character while creating a bathroom that felt elevated, timeless and deeply considered. By retaining the original windows and embracing a soft, coastal-inspired palette, the space was transformed without losing its connection to the home it belongs to. Subtle details bring a sense of quiet luxury throughout. Integrated sensor lighting within the shower niche and beneath the vanity enhances the daily experience of the room, while a bespoke fresco-waxed finish across the walls, ceiling and door introduces warmth, texture and continuity. A full-height brass-framed shower enclosure provides a refined architectural element, and the generous round brushed brass mirror helps amplify both light and the perception of space, demonstrating how thoughtful design can make even the smallest rooms feel open and inviting. This renovation embodies the belief that every home deserves good design. Through careful planning, considered material choices and an appreciation for what already exists, a compact bathroom has become a welcoming retreat that feels both beautiful and entirely at ease. What the client thought … “I engaged Kirsty Vegas Design to look at my home and start with the re-deign and renovation of my small bathroom. I gave her a simplistic brief of summer and beach, she listened and she came back with some beautiful options and completely nailed it. From the sand coloured tiles to the drift wood coloured cabinetry. I now have a bathroom that is timeless, sophisticated and feels like me. She provided plans and 3D visuals, adding in really beautiful touches like the shower niche, sensored strip lighting and specialised wall finishes … things that I would never have thought about. She worked within budget, got an A-Team of craftsmen in and project managed the whole job until completion, pivoting seamlessly on any unforseen hiccups. I absolutely love my new bathroom and can’t wait to renovate the rest of my home with Kirsty.” Brad - Avondale, Auckland
