"The Herne" has been the talk of Herne bay for over 2 years now, more so lately as it has seemed to be on hold from construction! QBS were engaged by the clients to take over this project in Jan 2019, as it came out of the ground with some troubling foundation issues. After 2 months of rework and fixing issues they spent the next 16 months deep within the construction.
The property consists of two high-end penthouse style apartments boasting over 500m2 with each property & the house stands 4 storeys tall.
Some of the main features are its amazing views of the Harbour Bridge, its ties to Sentinel beach below, sprawling entertainment zones & hidden pools.
The materials used for construction are mainly Precast & in-situ concrete walls and floors, with a large presence of structural steel.
The exterior of levels 1 & 2 are clad in a beautiful 180mm bandsawn Accoya weatherboard, topped with Heritage tray roofing, The joinery supplied by Vitrocsa adds clean sharp lines, with flush clean floor to sill thresholds.
This home features some impressive detailing and finishing of carpentry work with no filler used on the exterior all joints, mitres and joins had to be done with absolute precision.
Upon entry, you're met with a grand foyer featuring beautiful cast-iron handrails, warm oak flooring & a view down into the custom whiskey/ wine cellar.
The craftsmanship that has gone into the ceilings, recesses, custom screens and fine detailing is exquisite, As you move through the home the views out into the harbour coupled with the natural light really do take your breath away on a calm Sunday morning.
With 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, office, a large custom cellar, and a very moody high tech movie room this home has it all!
What is amazing is how adaptable the space is for its owner no matter the occasion with the lounge & outdoor area being more than capable of comfortably hosting 100+ people! We look forward to bringing you more images of the project over the coming 12 months.
Currently levels 1&2 are completed and handed over, however level 2&3 are about to undergo a full re-build due to major design change. Sadly due to the 8month wait time for plans to be re-designed QBS will not complete levels 3/4. We are gutted that the work will be removed entirely across level 3/4 and the client will start again. We wish the owner Graeme all the best with the L3/4 work and Thanks to John on L1/2 for having Amazing taste and allowing us to custom build everything!!!
