The existing Library, built in the 1970s, was badly in need of refurbishment and the school took the opportunity to change it's focus to a centre of learning for the school. The new design took on an industrial aesthetic — the concept of a `Learning Factory' was embraced and reflected in the internal fitout.
Externally the use of Trespa cladding enabled us to use the wide range of colours available to incorporate motif and tonal variation to reflect the school's strong Polynesian role and the history surrounding the English navigator James Cook, for whom the school is named. The result is a 'Enew' Library that has become a focus point for the school as well as a multi use space for functions and special school events
