KihiKihi Streetscape Upgrade

Website

Celebrations of the Battle of O-Rakau and the Waipa District are planned for early 2014. The implementation of the upgrade has been completed prior to this celebration.

The landscape design has retained and enhanced views, vistas, history and heritage, features that are very important to the Kihikihi Township.

The overhaul of Lyon Street began in January and has involved laying new water main and stormwater drains, footpath paving, kerbs, new street furniture and planting.

In total, the upgrade work involved 2000 square metres of footpath paving, 650 metres of kerb and channel, 500 metres of new stormwater lines, catchpits and manholes, 19 new street lights and new street furniture including seats, bins, bollards and a bus shelter.

Horizon supplied a combination of natural stone and Nubrik clay paving The larger stone units were laid on an Instarmac bedding material whilst the Nubrik clay paving was laid on a combination of sand and Instarmac bedding.
