Interior decoration of an architecturally designed new build.

Moody, elegant, luxurious, eclectic while at the same time super family friendly, and with great emphasis on it being a family home where people actually live and make mess.

Existing furniture and art collection to be taken into account as well.

Juxtaposition of blocks of bright colour and highly energetic print create a layered visual experience, softening large expanses, such as windows and walls.

Despite this, the furniture and art are given room to breathe, with enough plain white walls and simple concrete floor to allow them to shine. Art is clearly a passion of the owners, and paintings are hung in a random yet complimentary manner, which aids in the overall balance. Floors are treated as spaces for art and colour too, layered in multicoloured rugs, vintage and new, or in the case of the playroom, a bright red carpet.

Bedrooms have been given personality. Rather than conforming to current trends they forge their own way, shying away from fashionable, chosing fun and timeless instead. Again pattern, texture and blocks of colour create a kind of harmony through their contrasts. Everything chosen is always considered with the key themes in mind.

About the
Professional

Dessein Parke work on a wide range of both commercial and residential projects, from full interior/spatial design and project management for a new build or renovation, to interior styling and sourcing.

Always collaborating with our clients and co creators, rather than for them, we often function as the conduit between their ideas and vision and fully realised solutions, eschewing popular trends and fads for timeless design, and creating spaces of practical sophistication. Sourcing and styling also forms a large portion of our work, pulling together furniture, lighting, textiles and fittings to create a holistic – if sometimes idiosyncratic – experience.

More recently we have also delved into editorial styling and sourcing for magazines such as Homestyle and This is Here as a channel for the. more esoteric and random ideas.
