George Courts Luxury Bath

Set within the iconic George Courts Heritage Building, this renovation demonstrates how thoughtful design can honour the past while enhancing the way we live today. The brief was to transform a compact bathroom and laundry into a single, cohesive space that felt both functional and generous. By combining the two rooms and extending into the previously unused attic volume, the design unlocks an extraordinary sense of scale, culminating in a dramatic four-metre-high shower space that redefines the experience of the room. A striking stone feature wall anchors the vertical volume, introducing texture, depth and a quiet sense of permanence. More than a visual focal point, it celebrates the height of the space and reinforces the connection between contemporary interventions and the building's historic character. Every decision was guided by a desire to improve the daily experience of the homeowner, maximising functionality while creating moments of beauty and surprise. The result is a bathroom that feels both grounded and uplifting: a timeless sanctuary that balances modern living with the enduring spirit of one of Auckland's most treasured heritage buildings. What the client thought:  “Kirsty has impeccable taste and comes to the table with so many amazing ideas, yet still manages to remain incredibly collaborative and focused on the needs of her client. It really is the perfect mix. I absolutely love my new bathroom.” Dave
