The Macky Residence blends cherished furnishings and art from a modern apartment with a coastal bach aesthetic, completed in just three weeks under the expert guidance of designer Kate from Places and Graces.
The Macky Residence brief was clear – we're bringing our favourite furnishings, objects and art from our modern apartment, but we want this new home to feel like we're living in a bach by the sea... and we want it move-in ready in three weeks.
"Kate is our designer, but she is also a friend. Working with her is fun and collaborative. She quickly understood what we were trying to achieve and how to make that work in the space we had. She nudged us to make a bold paint choice and it so worked. It feels just like the beach-side cottage we wanted when we saw this home. "
— Jacquie and Gerard, Macky Residents
We transformed dated spaces into a light and breezy Mediterranean-inspired beach pad, focussing on the colour scheme, flooring, lighting, hardware, window furnishings and use of space.
This project was fast-paced and collaborative and is still evolving. These clients enjoy having their current home the best it can be – while they work on planning a modernisation of the kitchen and bathroom.

NB: the video of this project describes the floors in the living room as Cork - they are actually MDF.
