Situated in a prime spot in central Mackay, this distinguished property boasts exceptional views of the beautiful Australian skyline due to its prime positioning. The owners, with an eye on both the current and future requirements of their expanding family, aim to undertake a transformation that will not only elevate the home’s appeal but also augment its overall charm.
Previously designed by a local architect, studio gaxa inherited the project providing a complete haul on the renovation and construction strategy. Originally designed as a double story home with voids and cramped living area, Studio Gaxa applied an alternate approach by extending outward rather than upwards to best utelise the property and navigate budget toward achieving more of the clients extensive project brief
The design concept for the property, inspired by the contrasting yet equally majestic landscapes of Canada’s snowy terrains and Australia’s vast oceans, is to create “The Monument” – a living sculpture that embodies the essence of these two nations. This artistic endeavour aims to merge the rugged beauty of Canada with the serene, oceanic expanses of Australia, celebrating the indomitable spirit of their people and the breathtaking splendour of their environments.
Studio Gaxa, in collaboration with Castleworth Architecture, embarks on this artistic project with a transformative vision. The modification encompasses a ground floor addition, master bedroom and ensuite, study/guest retreat, and dining area. Studio Gaxa meticulously orchestrates services and documentation to ensure the project’s flawless execution, showcasing their commitment to artistic innovation and excellence in design.
Through this endeavour, the property in Mackay is poised to become a testament to the boundless wonders of nature, seamlessly blending the stark contrasts of the clients family roots of Canada and Australia into a harmonious and captivating living space.
