Performance Architecture. Performance Architecture is an architecture and design practice with studios in Christchurch and Auckland. We work across residential, multi-residential, development and commercial projects, combining thoughtful design with strong technical knowledge and a practical understanding of how buildings are delivered. Our approach is simple: find the best outcome for the project. We balance design quality, budget, buildability and long-term performance, working closely with clients, consultants and contractors from early feasibility through to construction. RESIDENTIAL We provide a full range of residential architectural services, from alterations and additions through to new architectural homes, multi-unit developments and larger residential projects. Our work can include site and development feasibility, concept and developed design, resource and building consent, interior design, documentation and construction observation. We also have specialist expertise in Passive House, low-energy design, Homestar, EnerPHit and building-performance modelling. This allows performance, comfort and energy efficiency to be considered as an integral part of the design rather than an addition later in the process. MULTI-RESIDENTIAL & DEVELOPMENT We work with developers and landowners to understand what is possible before committing significant time or capital to a project. Our team can assist with feasibility studies, yield and master-planning exercises, subdivision and development planning, resource consent, multi-unit housing design and complete architectural delivery. We focus on creating developments that make efficient use of land and construction budgets while still delivering well-designed, desirable places to live. COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL Our commercial work includes offices, workplaces, warehouses, industrial buildings, retail, hospitality and interior fit-outs. We can work across the full project lifecycle, from initial site feasibility, bulk and location studies and concept design through consenting, documentation, procurement and construction. Across these projects, our focus remains on clear planning, efficient use of space, buildability and creating buildings that work well for the people and businesses using them. BUILDING PERFORMANCE Building performance remains an important part of how we design. Our team includes Certified Passive House and Homestar Designers and uses tools including the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) and Energy and Carbon Calculator for Homes (ECCHO) to test design decisions and understand their effect on comfort, energy use and building performance. Rather than pursuing performance targets for their own sake, we use this knowledge to help clients make informed decisions about where investment will provide the greatest long-term value. The result is architecture that is thoughtful, well resolved and designed to work - for the client, the site and the way the building will actually be used.
