Oxford Area School - Takurua

Takurua is the the first stage in the redevelopment of Oxford Area School. The new contemporary building contains the school administration, library, canteen and multiple teaching spaces.

Takurua is the te reo Māori name for Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky. With the night sky a big focus of the school identity, the landscape design subtly references a Purapura whetu / star seed pattern in the courtyard paving. Along with the fantastic new building, new courtyards, seating and planting have created a much loved new asset for students, staff and the Oxford community.
