Paddington Street

This 1889 Paddington terrace underwent a full renovation to modernise the interiors while still celebrating the original features found throughout the front of the house. Our client’s brief included a strong emphasis on the kitchen, which became the statement room, and a beautiful lighting story to highlight their art collection.

With a love for cooking, our client's brief specified a minimalist and clean-line kitchen that was completely stainless steel. The striking and masculine kitchen cabinetry was paired with a fabulous stainless steel Wolf oven, sub-zero fridge and freezer plus a wine fridge to see through regular and industrious use.

In juxtaposition to the kitchen, the living area just behind has a warmth about it with American Oak joinery and kauri pine floors – the flooring specifically chosen to marry with the original kauri in the front ground and upstairs.

The bathrooms were replanned and an additional 2 were added to the floor plan. Dramatic dark Salvatori stone is used in the wet areas on the floor and walls for a seamless look and contrasted by the softness of the oak joinery.

The laundry was relocated to the main upstairs bathroom, to maximise space on the ground floor.

To ensure the rear courtyard was usable the back area was re-tiled using a filled travertine and additional planting created privacy and softened the hot and sunny yard. The steel frame doors tie together the modern look and feel, grounding the rear entertaining and living areas.
