When the local high school in Palmerston reached out for help to build some new monkey bars for our community in early 2022, JD Builders were happy to step up and answer the call.

Scope of the Project:

New monkey bars were required for the children to exercise on.

The benefits of Monkey Bars allow children to improve their socialization skills. The nature of playground equipment encourages children to play together fairly, builds confidence, allows stretching and fights obesity, improves posture, encourages creativity, and relieves stress.

Commencement:

During early March the setup for the site was laid out, and foundations were dug, by the middle of the month concrete was poured and left to cure. Near the end of the month, the initial monkey bars were assembled and bolted to the concrete for safety. At the start of April, JD Builders created the timber around the perimeter of the monkey bars to contain the wood chips.

Conclusion:

"Thank Jeff and JD Builders so much for the work you and your team have done in creating a great play space for our students.

We have been blown away by your support and will make sure we do everything we can to support your business."

East Otago High School April News Letter

--- Finally, we are almost at the point where we can open the Year 7/8 playground for our students. A project like this takes many people to pull together to make it happen. Financial support for such items does not come out of the operational funding provided by the government. We have to fundraise, apply for funding and ask community people to donate their time and or materials.

I would now like to acknowledge all those that have played a part in making this a reality.

* Jeffrey Dennison - Jeffrey Dennison Builders - Concrete boxing/placement, assembly of playground, timber boxing of playground.

* Ms. McLachlan and her Year 7/8 team of staff and students for planning and providing some of the labour .

* Leanne Black - Ray White - Financial

* Student Council - Financial

* Eohs Reunion Committee - Financial

* Gary Johnston - Labour and coordination of contractors

* Natala and Nick Colhoun - Food stuff grant.

* John Miller - Hewvan - Materials for boxing and woodchip.

* Carey Turner - Otago Transport - Transportation of woodchips.

Please support these local businesses that are doing so much to support their local school.

Thank you from East Otago High School!

Opening of the Year 7 & 8 playground

Dear Jeff,

It is with pleasure that we invite you to the opening of our Year 7 & 8 playground on the 7th July 2022 at 1:20 pm. When you arrive at East Otago High School please sign in at the office and you will be directed to the playground area.

With the challenges of the pandemic and associated lockdowns, it has taken us three years to complete this playground. Your contribution has been an integral part of this process, and we appreciate the support you have given us.

We would love it if you could join us on Thursday so we can thank you again in person.

Yours sincerely, Kirsty McLachlan, Chris Walker, Kelvin Cummings, Meg Goodman, and all the Year 7 & 8 students at East Otago High School.
