We're proud to have partnered with Auckland Urban Development Office to deliver a comprehensive programme of upgrades at Panmure Lagoon Edge Reserve, enhancing both functionality and overall public experience of this important waterfront space.

The works encompassed full establishment, site management and bulk earthworks, stormwater and wastewater improvements, and the construction of new footpaths. The scope also included the installation of a new toilet block, skatepark seating, street furniture, and landscaping with more native trees.

Cultural themes are deeply embedded in this project with designs from artist Lorna Rikihana (Ngāti Paoa, Ngāti Haua, Ngāti Wairere). These embody themes of pāwharā ika (sun dried fish rich in nutrients), the importance of a balanced salt diet and freshly cultivated vegetables from the Mauinaina maara kai & Mokoia Pā tūwatawata. And the importance of Kaitiakitanga of Te Wai Mokoia and Te Waiōtaiki, to ensure the purity of the water, Waitī (fresh water), emanating from Maungarei into Te Puna o Rangiātea which then flows into, Waitā (Salt water), Te Kai a Hiku (Panmure Basin).

These upgrades create a more accessible, resilient and welcoming recreational space for the community.
