A true ‘original’ from the 1960s, this house began as a two-story jumble of rooms. To make more room, MOORE dug out the floor to heighten basement ceilings, ensuring the lower level was suitable as a functional living space. Upstairs was fundamentally realigned to living areas and a sumptuous master bedroom. The exterior was entirely reclad and new windows and a new roof to finish it off. In the inside polished rimu floors were a feature throughout and a bespoke rimu staircase using reclaimed studs float up to the top level of the home. This labor of love transformed a confused house into a four-bedroom, three-bathroom lifestyle space with stunning views of the Atawhai harbor.
