We love this engineered stone top — deeply textured yet fresh, it has a modern granite look with mid to dark grey veins and white features. It has been given a sleek, thin edge on the main bench, is a generous thick slab on the island table and has also been used as a unifying splash-back to keep materials at a minimum, helping to create a cohesive look.

The original plan for a black, white and grey kitchen was enhanced with the softening and warming properties of the blond timber. The Laminex veneer colour selected is a beautiful pairing with the stone as it has an equivalent softness of tone.

In an apartment with one main living area, the island doubles as a dining table allowing the rest of the living space room to feel spacious. With efficient storage in the rest of the kitchen and the owner’s clever inclusion of further storage on an adjacent wall, the island can be a useful work surface yet not compromised as a table with under bench storage.

The black cabinetry is a stained veneer so has an underlying grain enhanced with the extensive natural light during the day and well placed ceiling lights in the evening.
