A 150 sqm holiday house in the Coromandel, inspired by vernacular tramping hut design, featuring a linear plan with communal and private decks, clad in red steel, harmoniously blending with the natural landscape.
150 sqm / Coromandel
Located in a valley amongst the Coromandel ranges this simple holiday house draws on vernacular tramping hut design as well as the rural farm buildings common in the area. Sitting lightly on its site and clad in red steel the house both relates to it’s context and stands out amongst the bush covered hills.
The linear plan incorporates a main living area and guest wing, divided by a central communal deck with additional private decks at either end. Facing north over the valley this long, narrow house makes the most of the sun and the landscape.
