Mayor Sheryl Mai said Pūtahi Park has been a dream for so many people for such a long time now, and I know there is much quiet rejoicing going on. “The project kicked off under the Sense of Place Programme which came out of the Whangārei District Growth Strategy ‘Sustainable Futures 30/50’, adopted by Council in 2010.
Pūtahi means “a place where everyone can gather and enjoy themselves”
“The importance of creating a ‘Sense of Place’ was identified by our communities across our District and supported through various rounds of consultation, and in many plans. It reflects what we aimed to achieve through several Long Term Plans, 2016’s Whangārei 20/20 Momentum report, the 2017 City Centre Plan, 2018-28 Long Term Plan, and the 2019 City Core Precinct Plan. It really does symbolise our plans all coming together. Pūtahi Park now provides a key link between the Waterfront and City Centre.

Bedding:- Instarmac Bedding and Grouting
Horizon recently supplied the stunning paving pallette for the Pūtahi Park upgrade works.
A combination of bespoke Terrazzo paving complemented by some Bluestone Paving Pūtahi means “a place where everyone can gather and enjoy themselves”.
