By DCM Urban Design
Urban design certification and landscape design services were provided for the Riverside Market and Guthrey Lane development in Central Christchurch. The project involved developing landscape concepts and detailed design drawings for the proposed laneways network running between 4 new commercial buildings and linking through to Ballantynes, the Lichfield Street carpark and the Avon River Precinct. The design included installing street furniture, paving details, planting and artwork.
A artwork competition was held to develop 3 interactive street art designs within the lanes. The competition was won by Jake Clark who designed a Pukeko, Kereru and a waka to be painted on 3 different walls.
We are continuing to work with the Peebles Group to develop areas adjoining the laneway network.
