By JOST Architects
JOST Architects presents the Sorrento Beach House, a stunning blend of Scandinavian and mid-century modern influences, designed to be both a holiday retreat and a permanent residence in the heart of Sorrento. The brief was to create a "super-stylish and cool" home with seamless indoor-outdoor entertaining areas, a second-story with panoramic views, a separate bungalow for the clients' teenage children, and a solar-heated pool.
This luxury home features a striking kitchen, master suite, and study area/guest bedroom on the ground floor, while the upper level houses two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a second living area that opens to a terrace. The design includes passive thermal control, with cross ventilation and strategic orientation of glass to optimize natural light and energy efficiency.
With a focus on privacy, security, and a darker, moodier interior palette of timber, stone, and glass, the Sorrento Beach House is a true architectural gem that embodies the relaxed coastal lifestyle of Sorrento. Collaborating with interior designer Simone Haag and builder Ryan Waterson, JOST Architects has created a home that not only meets the clients' exacting requirements but also stands as a timeless piece of design in the Luxury Homes category.
Jost Architects was established in 2008 in Melbourne by Patrick Jost. The main studio is located in St Kilda, Melbourne and a second studio is now located on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
We treat each project as unique, the site context, client requirements and specific design aesthetics results in distinct project styles. The practice produces strong contemporary designs that respond to brief, budget, and location, along with the setting in which it’s found.
The need to produce sustainable outcomes, irrespective of the scale of a project is a core value of Jost Architects. Starting with the adoption of the basic principles of thermal passive design, sustainable systems are integrated within the building fabric to become unnoticed aesthetically. This results in projects which are comfortable to live in, economical to operate and of a high-quality contemporary architecture.
