The owners of this modernist home were determined to preserve its architectural authenticity, when planning a comprehensive renovation. This extended to the new kitchen which has been designed to evoke the era, complete with square tile splashbacks and benchtops edged in bullnosed timber. Under the seventies skin are all the modern conveniences of a 21st century kitchen - Blum hardware, soft-close drawers, Fisher and Paykel appliances, and hard-wearing polyurethane lacquered surfaces.
The starkness of the minimalist white-on-white look is softened and warmed by the generous use of oak timber panels and flooring. This is a kitchen that has been designed specifically to fit with the architectural style of the home, and the fact that it sits so easily in the space is testament to this approach.
