Comprehensive renovations and modern additions to an aged rural house, featuring a striking blend of dark metal cladding and golden oiled cedar weatherboards, while preserving the original barn form with enhanced architectural elements.
An existing aged house on a 5-hectare rural property required extensive alterations as well as new additions to form the new required spaces. The new additions were all added at the east end of the house for cost efficiencies and the house was fully re-clad and re-roofed with a simple pallet, dark metal cladding and golden oiled cedar weatherboards. The existing vernacular barn form was retained and emphasised with all soffits being removed and feature wing walls and pergolas added with cedar batten infill providing a simple crisp modern form.
