Since the late 1800s Paradise has been a base for people seeking the tranquility of an accessible wilderness experience. Nestled on the edge of beech forest and recently renovated by the Paradise Trust, this historic barn provides a shelter and blank canvas that can be enjoyed for weddings, corporate and group events. The framing is of native timber and the weatherboards are thought to be Red Beech. During on-site investigations it became clear that general lack of maintenance had led to extensive timber decay and partial collapse of the lean-tos attached to each side of the barn. Prior to obtaining a building consent Origin Consultants Limited produced a Conservation Plan, Heritage Impact Assessment and Schedule of Repairs that listed recommended maintenance work to be undertaken, along with the proposed strengthening and rebuilding works.
