A Sacred Revival Turned Iconic Pub
In the heart of Christchurch stands The Church Pub, a stunning example of how history and modernity can coexist. Once a cherished place of worship, this building was left damaged by earthquakes but has been transformed into a stylish bar and eatery. Combining its heritage charm with contemporary functionality, it now offers a warm and inviting space to gather, eat, and celebrate.

A Testament to Craftsmanship
The restoration of The Church Pub was entrusted to Kris and Stu of Pinnacle Masonry, specialists in classic stonework. This wasn’t just a rebuild—it was a meticulous revival of a building steeped in history. Using CNC-cut Oamaru Stone for precision detailing and Mapei’s advanced waterproofing and adhesive systems, the project seamlessly blended traditional materials with modern engineering.
From the carefully applied lightweight stone cladding to the preservation of the building’s historic character, every detail was executed with care and precision.

A Space Reimagined
Turning a church into a modern bar and eatery was no small feat. It required balancing the building’s historic significance with its new purpose as a lively social venue. The transformation was a collaborative effort, with professionals and suppliers like Oamaru Stone and Mapei Building Products playing a key role.
The result? A space that retains the elegance of its past while embracing the functionality and vibrancy of the present.

A Celebration of Heritage and Hospitality
Today, The Church Pub stands as a testament to Christchurch’s resilience and creativity. It’s not just a pub; it’s a symbol of what can be achieved when skilled hands and thoughtful design come together. Whether you’re savouring a meal, enjoying a drink, or admiring the craftsmanship, The Church Pub offers an experience unlike any other.
