Modern building to suit progressive learning. Unitec’s new student centre, Te Puna, is a 6,900sqm modern and flexible place dedicated to student services, teaching and study spaces, library facilities and a new student health centre. The construction of this architecturally pleasing space included exposed glue-laminated beams supported by structural steel columns and struts to create a floating roof structure, diamond-shaped air-filled pillow skylights, geometric feature walls, picture-framed balcony pods and a stunning 10x4m living wall of native plants.

At Pearse Construction upskilling and training our staff is in our core values because it ensures that we are doing everything possible to deliver excellence in our work. While we have our own in-house training and are constantly testing our staff members, we are proud to work alongside companies such as Site safe, PassRite and St John.

We work closely with BCITO (The Building and Construction Industry Training Organization) in order to take on new apprentices and train our own through their organization. BCITO sets the industry standard for top-notch apprentices and they are currently working in conjunction with the government to help fund the apprenticeship process. Which we are delighted to be helping with via placement, the future of New Zealand building lies within the training and molding of these apprentices.
